Good Conduct Policy Update

Wednesday evening the North Butler Board of Education voted to change the good conduct policy. The Policy change applies beginning the date of November 15, 2018 and continues through the remainder of the school year.
The policy change impacts the application of the honesty provision and student discipline.

The Board holds the values of honesty and integrity in high esteem. The change in the policy allows the Honesty Provision to apply when a student comes forward with a violation anytime before the school obtains factual knowledge of the violation. The Honesty Provision applies to a FIRST Offense only.

The Board reviewed the honesty provision of the Good Conduct Policy.

The following action was taken:
1. The wording on PART A of the Good Conduct Policy Honesty provision is revised
2. The following statement has been removed from the policy:
3. following school day
4. The following statement has been added to the policy:
5. prior to the school gaining factual information. This factual information could be that the student was observed by a staff member, information from law enforcement, pictures, social media, responsible adult report or other credible information, this policy is retroactive to November 15, 2018.

We appreciate your support in promoting the Bearcat Way throughout our community and school district.
