STEM Scale Up Grant for Project Lead the Way

North Butler Schools has been notified that we have been selected for a Governor's STEM Scale Up grant to implement the Project Lead the Way-Gateway program in the 7th and 8th grades. We will be sending a teacher to be trained to teach the class involved with implementing this program during the month of July, and implementing it at the start of the school year for all of our 7th and 8th grade students.

Project Lead the Way is one of the premier engineering programs in the country, and we are very excited about the opportunities that it will bring to North Butler Schools. It consists of programs that run from elementary through high school that expose students to opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

SBRC Meeting

This morning Eric Bixby and I traveled to Des Moines for our meeting with the School Budget Review Committee. We made a brief opening statement, after which the members of the SBRC asked several questions in regards to our submissions and the projections we had made. After a brief discussion the SBRC voted to approve our application and request for the supplemental modified amount that we had asked for which was $213,773. This will assist us in ensuring that we maintain a positive unspent balance in the future.
